Hugely influential in his time, Rembrandt was also an incredibly popular teacher, mentoring over 50 pupils and teaching them to render in his style. While many of these pupils rose to some prominence, discernible disconnects in craft and execution differentiate the master from the pupil. This was the focus of the blockbuster exhibit, Drawings by Rembrandt and His Pupils: Telling the Difference, at the The J. Paul Getty Museum.

The Getty approached Bluecadet to produce two interactive kiosks and a website, aimed at allowing visitors to discover the differences between Rembrandt's work and that of his pupils. The fluid interface juxtaposes an iconic Rembrandt drawing next to that of a pupil. By clicking on a pair, a user can observe the subtle differences in craft that distinguish a pretty drawing from a masterpiece.
